Values In Action

Project Work is a learning experience which aims to provide students with the opportunity to synthesise knowledge from various areas of learning, and critically and creatively apply it to real life situations. This process enhances students’ knowledge and enables them to acquire skills like collaboration, communication and independent learning, prepares them for lifelong learning and the challenges ahead.

VIA infused Project Work enhances the empathy component in the course of acquiring knowledge, for students to understand the importance of putting themselves in the shoes of others.

Values in Action (VIA) are learning experiences that support students’development as socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community. VIA builds on the strengths of CIP, and encourages students to identify and understand community issues, initiate action among their peers to make a difference and improve the lives of others. When there is greater student ownership of the VIA learning experiences, they will find VIA more meaningful, and will be more motivated to continue making a difference to the community and nation after leaving school.

As part of VIA, students reflect on their experience, the values they have put into practice, and how they can continue to contribute meaningfully. VIA is an important component of Character and Citizenship Education.
