Overview of Schedule Support for Home-Based Learning
The String Ensemble provides young violinists, violists, cellists and double bassists with the opportunity to come together to perform in a string orchestra as well as in chamber group. Students’ learning in the String Ensemble will sharpen their musical skills as well as expand their music repertoire. They will develop the values of responsibility and resilience through this music making experience in an ensemble. Through the String Ensemble experience, students will learn the importance of teamwork in order to achieve the best performance.
Our String Ensemble represents the school at the biennial Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging (Instrumental) and have been awarded with the distinction award each time, in recognition of their hard work and talent. Apart from representing the school at the SYF platforms, our String Ensemble students will annually visit the elderly at St Joseph Home to perform for them, bringing them the joy of music as a way of making a difference in the lives of others. The String Ensemble is an excellent avenue where young musicians can enhance their musicianship, build friendship and care for the less fortunate.
*Students will be auditioned before obtaining a place in the String Ensemble. Interested participants must have at least an ABRSM / Trinity Guildhall Certification of Grade 3 and above.
*Upon obtaining a place in the String Ensemble, students must continue with the learning of their instrument with their instrumental teachers.
