Thank You Mr Lee Kuan Yew
Heartfelt words from staff...
Dear Lord, we want to specially remember and honour our Founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
Because of him, our nation has been blessed. We acknowledge that you had given him the mantle of leadership and had blessed him with insight and vision to hold the nation together during the turbulent years, to lead her through the difficult times and to lay the foundation for a future-ready Singapore. We thank you that you enabled him to lead with integrity, equality, justice and most of all, by example. He showed us how to treat all races and religions without discrimination and bias and it's because of this we are able to co-exist peacefully and harmoniously as one nation. Thank you for giving him dying grace and for giving him a peaceful departure. Much as our hearts are saddened, yet we rejoice because all his earthly suffering has come to an end. We ask for your grace, comfort and peace to be upon Mr Lee's family. Mr Lee was a politician and statesman to us but he was also a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother and an uncle. In their grief may they find solace in you. Hold them close to your heart in this trying time and may they come to know of your grace and your love for them. Bless our current leaders and those who are being groomed. Though they will never be able to fill his shoes, may they follow his example and fulfill his dream of building a better Singapore for Singaporeans.
~ Ms Magdalene Chin, Principal

"Prime Minister, there is a story that when you left Cambridge, your tutor said: "Well, Harry, when you get back to Singapore, I hope you'll keep the flag flying," and that you replied: "When I get back, I will make it my duty to get the flag down!" You succeeded in that, as in so many other tasks to which you put your hand, and you instead ran up Singapore's flag, which has now flown so proudly for twenty-five year."
- Margaret Thatcher's Speech at dinner for Singapore Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, 1990.
If we were born during that time, would we have such an inspiration like Mr Lee Kuan Yew?
Thank you, Founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, for what you had done for our homeland!
~Miss Yee Kwan Ngah
Dear Father of our Nation, as Singapore mourns your death, we must never forget nor take for granted what you and your team has made available for us. Your love for Singapore, your passion and resoluteness, your remarkable acumen and simplicity in life, will continue to inspire those that come after you. You have run the good race, you have fought the good fight, you have given your best. You will go down in history as a True Giant who had conquered all odds to make the Little Red Dot a significant one. With deep gratitude and love, your Singaporean daughter.~Mrs Beatrice Magherra
Dear Mr Lee,
You will always be cherished and remembered fondly for your leadership in bringing Singapore from where she was to where she is today. You had the wisdom and courage to take our little nation to independence when all the odds were stacked against us. Indeed, you are a man of VISION and foresight and I dare say, the greatest leader we ever had. Your focus on quality education and emphasis on a meritocratic society helped shaped Singapore to where she is today! I shall miss you dearly.~Mrs Yap Tsui Lan
Your immense contribution to this nation is an inspiration to me.
You have fully demonstrated values of responsibility, integrity, resilience and love through your life.
I ask myself: How can I contribute in my lifetime to emulate your spirit?
I'm glad I'm a teacher. I can do my part by telling YOUR STORY year after year to many cohorts of students.
Hopefully, they too could catch a glimpse of your spirit and continue to carry the touch of your legacy.

Dear Mr Lee,
Thank you for all the great work that you have done and contributed to this little red dot. It was never easy right from the beginning but you persevered. You showed us the true meaning of resilience and love. Your great foresight led us to where we are today. You will always live in our hearts. THANK YOU.

Thank you Mr Lee for dedicating your life in building Singapore. Because of your vision, determination and love for Singapore, we have a country that we are proud of. You are truly a great leader with a great legacy. We will always remember you with gratitude.~ Mrs Esther Tan
As I grew up in the Singapore education system when I entered in Sec 1, I began to realise why my educator parents had sent me here despite the high cost for foreigners. I truly saw the people of Singapore and the Singapore government living out the pledge – to be one united people, regardless of race, language or religion. It then dawned on me that the reason why my parents had sent me here was because of the meritocratic system that we had and also the fact that we were studying in English, a language that is universal and would be used around the world. It was their belief in what Mr Lee Kuan Yew had strived to achieve that the colour of your skin, income status, religion should not stand in the way when it came to education that drove them to work hard to let me experience this world-class education system that Mr Lee and his team of leaders had strove to build up over the years.
I have said the pledge countless times in my life as a student and now, as a teacher. Every time I say the pledge, I am grateful for what Singapore is. It means much more to me because I have seen and experienced what it is not elsewhere. The words of the pledge definitely did not come out of nowhere.
In it, we see the experiences and pain that our forefathers had experienced.
In it, we see a vision and the beliefs of a great leader that Singapore can be a great nation despite having little and being small.
In it, we see his love for a country. In it, we see the love and the protective nature of a father for his child – Singapore.
In it, we see passion, inspiration, determination, sacrifices, courage and strength.
Thank you Mr Lee Kuan Yew, for all that you have done for Singapore.
Thank you for the legacy you have left for us.
May we continue to be the united people, regardless of race, language or religion, who will continue to build a democratic society that is based on justice and equality, so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation, Singapore.

Dear Mr Lee,
You have devoted your entire life to better the lives of Singaporeans and the wellness of our country. With the vision you saw, you led our country and stood strong. Without a visionary leader like you, Singapore would not have attained this level. Today, the people of Singapore salute you and mourn the loss of our leader. With utmost respect, thank you for all that you have done Mr Lee. May your soul rest in peace.
~ Miss Abi
I grew up not knowing what was war and struggle,
Only because I am tasting the freedom that you had battled to define.
I grew up not knowing of life’s hardship,
Only because I am savoring a peaceful life that you had strived for.
I grew up not knowing what it is to live in clutter and filth,
Only because you had paved the way to a clean and green city.
I grew up not knowing what was racial disharmony and religion intolerance,
Only because you had taught me to say The Pledge with pride and sing “Majulah Singapura.”
I grew up not realising that my perfect reality
Was your once upon a time dream.
But now as I say to you my Farewell
I stand, eyes brimming with tears
And a heart filled with gratitude;
Because I know my current reality
Is your greatest achievement.
Thank you, Mr Lee, for weaving my beautiful reality;
And giving me this beautiful Garden City.~ Mdm Hairunisa
Mr Lee Kwan Yew brought Singapore from a mudflat to a bustling metropolis. Only a true visionary man with firm dedication can achieve this. You have left behind a legacy and will always remain in the hearts of all Singaporeans！

Dear Mr Lee Kuan Yew
Sir, I was brought up hearing stories about you from my parents. My mother used to tell stories of how my grandfather carried you when you won elections and that you also did not mind having a meal at my grandparents' place then! You mingled with each and everyone just like one of them. You will never be forgotten, Sir! Everywhere you went, you have left a mark of your own. Today, almost every country is talking about you. I was hoping and praying that you will be with us for Singapore’s 50th birthday this year but guess fate has it otherwise. You will always be remembered Sir! You have dedicated your whole life for Singapore! Thank you Sir, for a corruption free government, a safe country, bilingual education policies and many more that you have led your generation and many other generations through. I am forever grateful for all that we have and as a citizen of Singapore, I will make sure your legacy continues. With lots of love, gratitude and a tearful heart,

Such an extraordinary and exceptional man and I thank GOD for blessing us with you. Without you and your leadership, many of us would not have been educated and own our homes. Without your farsighted vision, Singapore would not be what she is today. Thank you so much for what you have done for the nation. I will always remember you in my heart. May your soul rest in peace.
~ Khoo Kim Kiow
Thank you Mr Lee Kuan Yew for all that you have done for us. We do not have words to encapsulate your immense contributions to Singapore. So many vignettes of your life we have learnt over the past few days, you were indeed a stalwart leader. You gave this little Red Dot a presence on the world’s geo-political stage.
As I sat outside the ICU at Singapore General Hospital last week keeping vigil for a relative, I got to know you were warded in the next cubicle. It was a sign of your simplicity that you were in the same ward as ordinary Singaporeans.
Every day, I willed you to get up from your hospital bed and say, “What is all this fuss? I still have to take part in the SG 50 celebrations.”But alas it was not meant to be.You gave up the fight on 23rd March 2015.
50 years ago, you wept for us and today the nation you created out of your sweat and toil weeps for you.
As I bid you farewell Sir, I would like to say:
Fret not Mr Lee.
Your indefatigable spirit, your belief in Singapore will live on.
You left us bodily but your spirit will live on.
We will keep the flag flying high;
We will continue your Singapore dream.
~ Madam Sarah
I remember you as a tough talking and resilient leader during the early days when you became our first Prime Minister. I admired you for your untiring efforts in making Singapore for what it is today.Thank you Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Touching and proud to call Singapore my Home!
Dear Mr Lee Kuan Yew Sir, Amongst the many things that you have done for Singapore, the one I that I will always hold dear to my heart is your establishment of meritocracy in our society. When I was doing my postgraduate degree in NTU/NIE, more than three-quarters of my fellow classmates including myself had climbed up the social ladder, in terms of jobs, standard of education and living conditions. It was your unceasing efforts to imbue meritocracy in our country that allowed the daughter of a humble taxi driver to become the holder of a masters degree today. Thank you Mr Lee, for giving me and so many others the wind beneath our wings; for being the reason why we have advanced so far despite our modest roots.~ Jemma Decruz - Proud daughter of Meritocratic Singapore
Dear Mr Lee Kuan Yew
You have given half a century of your life to us.

Under your good governance, our small island has been transformed into one of the most prosperous and dynamic countries in the world.
Mr Lee, Singapore will NEVER GIVE UP and we will continue to stand up for our country! You have left us with the greatest & most invaluable gift - The gift of a remarkable economic growth, prosperity and also peace and stability for Singapore.
Because of this, we are able to hold our heads high in the world and say that we are from Singapore and that “little red dot” that people used to call us has become a significant "little red dot" with impregnable strength! Our nation will build upon your legacy and achieve further success.
The country & the world revered you!
May your legacy live on and may you rest in eternal peace!
~ Audrey Go
Dear Mr Lee Kwan Yew,
Words alone cannot fully express my sentiments at your passing. I am deeply, deeply saddened that you had left us. I wonder if Singapore will ever be the same again without you. To Singapore, and to me, you had been a true Father of our Nation. When we had looked to you, we felt strong and believed like you did, that Singapore could achieve. And we did!
Thank you so much for sacrificing your whole life to build our nation. I thank Jesus too for you for I believe you were a gift, an immense blessing to Singapore. I have admired your numerous qualities and have been deeply awed by your principled and disciplined lifestyles, your beliefs and values. Among them, integrity stands out most prominently for me. I promise that I will as long as I live, love our Singapore and continue to perpetuate and uphold the values on which you laid and built Singapore’s firm foundation.Your Singaporean daughter,

Dear Founding Father,
You have the vision for our future although there was a time when people say that Singapore would not make it.
You have the courage to move forth when the merger did not work out.
You have the resilience to overcome challenges and build this nation from nothing during the difficult times.
You have given us education, security and stability and more so your entire life to improve our lives.
You have taken Singapore to the next level where the current generation and generations to come will continue to be inspired by you.

More than 50 years ago, Mr Lee Kuan Yew saw possibilities of a better Singapore and sprang to action, responding to that call to serve. The rest, they say, is history as we see Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s legacy all around us today – Peace, Security, Harmony, Stability and more.

There was a girl several years ago. She had watched you speak with vigour and passion for Singapore on television. She had stood by the streets of Tanjong Pagar and watched you pass, pride and admiration all written on her face.
Now, that girl has grown. She has become an educator. She will continue to tell the story of a true hero, a visionary leader to the many generations that come her way.
My heartfelt thanks to you for all that you have done. You will be dearly missed, Mr Lee.
